Oleksiy Chekal will share his experience in working with and achieving harmony between typography and calligraphy using Latin, Greek, Cyrillic, Hebrew, Arabic, and Syriac scripts for institutional clients of many faiths. The lecture will be a fascinating journey from lettering for Santuario Madonna del Miracolo in Rome, to avant-garde Kharkiv motifs, to quotations from Syriac saints, and Jewish liturgy.

Oleksiy Chekal is a Ukrainian graphic designer, calligrapher and art historian. He specializes in the complex tasks of cross-cultural design in a range of museum, scientific, and religious projects.
