Llandogo, Monmouthshire: The Old Stile Press, 2012. Pusch, Steffi. Limited Edition. Hardcover. Number 5 of 100, folio size, pp., signed by S.J. Butler and Steffi Pusch. Fine. Item #CNJL886
"The Swimmer" first appeared in "The Warwick Review" and was then selected for "The Best British Short Stories 2011" published by Salt; this is its first publication together with Steffi Pusch’s photographs. The story follows a writer confined in a room overlooking a river during a hot summer. At first fearful of the powerful current, the writer eventually ventures into the waters, experiencing a self-revelatory torrent of emotion. The photographer read the story and was inspired to take a sequence of photos to accompany it; the result is a wonderful work with the image and text flowing together like the symbolic waves and ripples of the river, both physical and emotional.
