This a collection of the author's short fiction, "from her early work in the sixties to the recently published title story, which was widely debated when it appeared in Germany in 1990" (n.b., from jacket flap).
Christa Wolf (1929-2011) received numerous awards: she "received the Heinrich Mann Prize in 1963, the Georg Büchner Prize in 1980, the Schiller Memorial Prize in 1983, and the Geschwister-Scholl-Preis in 1987, as well as other national and international awards. After the German reunification, Wolf received further honours: in 1999, she was awarded the Elisabeth Langgässer Prize and the Nelly Sachs Literature Prize. Wolf became the first recipient of the Deutscher Bücherpreis (German Book Prize) in 2002 for her lifetime achievement. In 2010, Wolf was awarded the Großer Literaturpreis der Bayerischen Akademie der Schönen Künste" (per Wiki).

___CONDITION: Volume fine, the boards clean, straight corners without rubbing, a strong, square text block with solid hinges, the interior is clean and bright, and entirely free of prior owner markings; clean, crisp, and as new. The dust jacket fine overall, not price-clipped, clean and without noticeable wear; a hint of sunning to the spine, else fine.
