Jean-Jacques Rousseau's (1712-1778) philosophy heavily influenced his contemporaries and helped to usher in the Age of Enlightenment, which subsequently influenced "the development of modern political, economic, and educational thought" (n.b., quote from Wiki).
This work, "Emile", "is a book we misunderstand at our peril. It lies at the source of moral, educational, and political ideas that define the contemporary outlook..." (n.b, from jacket flap). This a new transation by Bloom, with an "introduction which relates the structure and themes of the book to the vital preoccupations of our own age..." (ibid).
Somewhat scarce in the markeplace in the hardbound version.
