One could spend a lifetime studying the life and work of Bernard Bolzano (1781-1848). An ordained Catholic priest as well as a scholar, philosopher and mathematician, he has been referred to as "the greatest logician who lived in the long stretch of time between Leibniz and Frege" (n.b., from the web site of the Stanford University Encyclopedia of Philosophy).

These four volumes published by the Oxford University Press in 2014, now somewhat scarce. The set presents his work in logic, which "marks a new beginning in the history of the discipline..." (n.b., from dust jacket flap).
