Jakob and Wilhelm Grimm (1785-1863 and 1786-1859, respectively), known as the Brothers Grimm, have popularised European folk tales such as "Rapunzel", "Cinderella", "Sleeping Beauty", and "Snow White", stories that have been intrinsic parts of European and American literature, read and loved by children and adults alike, and adapted countless times in fiction writing, theatre, and film.

This tale, "The Bremen Town Musicians", " tells the story of four aging domestic animals, who after a lifetime of hard work are neglected and mistreated by their former masters. Eventually, they decide to run away and become town musicians in the city of Bremen. Contrary to the story's title the characters never arrive in Bremen, as they succeed in tricking and scaring off a band of robbers, capturing their spoils, and moving into their house" (n.b., quote from Wiki).

With detailed and lively illustrations by Sarah Chamberlain, proprietor of The Chamberlain Press, who works in several mediums including etchings, wood engravings, and watercolour.
