A charmingly illustrated tale, "[b]ased on a Middle Eastern proverb 'The Boots of Hunain' which refers to something that is not such a bargain as it seems" (n.b., quote from the book). The hand-coloured illustrations by Marcie Collin are delightful; Marcie "once lived in the Middle East" (per the colophon) and her love for the land and people shines through.

___DESCRIPTION: Bound in paper over boards, hand-coloured illustration of a camel and black lettering on the front, yellow endpapers, illustrated half-title, illustrated double-spread title, lavishly illustrated with just a few pages with text only, most of the pages with either a full-page or an in-text illustration, numbered and signed by Carol Cunningham at the colophon; printed letterpress from hand-set type (per the colophon), miniature book (2 7/8" by 2 3/4"), unpaginated with 18 leaves. In the original gift box, the bottom gold foil-covered cardboard with a paper label on one side with the title in black, the top clear plastic, with four small pieces of lucite enclosing the book.

___CONDITION: Fine, the boards clean and without wear, straight corners without rubbing, a strong, square text block with solid hinges, the interior is clean and bright, and entirely free of prior owner markings; clean, crisp, and as new. The gift box near fine. strong and sturdy, the bottom without wear, the plastic top with usual shallow marks.
