First (and thus far the only) edition of this stunning bibliography from the Sunflower Press, bound by Joe D'Ambrosio; this volume spans nearly 50 years of The Sunflowers Press's publications.

Carol Cunningham (1925-2013) and her Sunflower Press was best known for significant contributions to modern book arts; she is best known for her miniature books and was the second woman to become a Companion of the Moxon Chappel, a historic Bay Area printmaking club. Cunningham and close friend Diane Weiss founded the Fine Print Fair, now run by the Pacific Center for the Book Arts.

Bound by Joseph J. D'Ambrosio (1934-2009), an exceptional book artist who wrote, set type, printed designs, illustrated, and distinctly bound his books. D'Ambrosio exhibited in many one-man and group exhibitions, and his works are in both private and institutional collections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

___DESCRIPTION: Original orange Thai silk binding with printed paper title inlaid to upper board, original orange dust jacket titled in black at the backstrip, color printed end papers with sunflower pattern, color illustrations hand-stenciled and hand-painted in watercolour, colour printing, inlaid linoleum and zinc cuts, handset Centaur type, on Utopian paper by Curtis, 7 1/4" x 5 1/2", 29 unnumbered leaves, limited edition of 30 copies, this no. 18, signed by Carol Cunningham.

___CONDITION: A fine copy with absolutely no fraying or bumping to the delicate silk cloth binding, dust jacket is clean and crisp, amazing details throughout, and evidence of the careful touch of the artist, all inlaid pieces are intact; a beautiful copy that has been handled with the utmost care, like new.
