Molecular Spectroscopy: Modern Research
New York and London: Academic Press, 1972. Hardcover. Octavo size, 435 pp. Near Fine / Good. Item #14101103
Contains reviews of then-current advances in several phases of research in high-resolution molecular spectroscopy, with particular emphasis on electronic, infrared, and microwave studies of molecular species in gas phase and in matrices (from dust jacket flap). ***Professor K. Narahari Rao (1921- 2000) led in the development of improved methods of studying infrared spectra at higher and higher resolution. These methods were applied to the determination of molecular constants, studies of intra-molecule interactions, and observations of transitions normally considered to be unavailable for study. These research activities resulted in over 300 publications, including six books and six major review articles.
Professor C. Weldon Mathews is serving as Emeritus Professor at Ohio State University, specializing in Molecular Structure and Spectroscopy, and Fourier Transform Spectroscopy.
___DESCRIPTION: Green cloth boards with a blind embossed ruled border on the front, publisher's device blind embossed at the center of the front, gilt and black lettering on the spine, plain endpapers, text interspersed with tables, graphs, and mathematical equations, two Indices at the back, one by Author and the other of Molecular Species. Pagination: (i-iv), v-xiii, 1-422. Unclipped dust jacket designed by Dick Cullom has a summary of this volume on the front flap, publisher's ads for additional volumes in this field on the back panel and back flap.
___CONDITION: Ex-Library from Cal's Quantum Electronics and Astrophysics Group, minimal library markings consist of a stamp with the group's name on the front free endpaper and the remnants of a label at the foot of the DJ spine. The volume is in fine condition other than a minute amount of edgewear to the tail of the spine and the bottom corners; the text block is strong and square, hinges are solid, the interior is bright and clean, only prior owner marking is the stamp referred to above.
