Syd Hoff (1912-2004) is probably best known for "Danny and the Dinosaur", published in 1958. He began illustrating at an early age, selling his first cartoon to "The New Yorker" at the age of 18.
This work, "Albert the Albatross", is one of over sixty volumes Hoff wrote and illustrated for the "I Can Read" and "Early I Can Read" Harper series, and features Albert's "adventures on land, on sea and in the air" (from jacket flap) with the publisher reminding us that "[e]veryone knows that an albatross brings good luck".
