Three Poems

Beetham, England: Simon King Press, 1998. King, Simon. Limited Edition. Hardcover. No. 20 of 65, folio size, 35 pp., signed by Simon King. Fine. Item #CNJL824

These three poems, written by Victorian novelist and poet George Meredith (1828-1909), best known for his novel "The Egoist", contain observations of nature, of trees and birds, and of people going about their day-to-day lives within this natural environment; filled with beauty and reflection, the poems juxtapose the outward world with the interior world of the narrator's thoughts. Published by Simon King, the book also features wood engravings by King, with detailed line work and a sensitive portrayal of the people of Meredith's poems; the book is housed in a custom clamshell box, to make this volume a truly special edition of Meredith's work.
