New York: Limited Editions Club, 1985. Hardcover. One of 800 copies, folio size, 190 pp. Fine. Item #CNJL160
The Limited Editions Club was founded in 1929 by George Macy (1900-1956) and produced many fine press books for its members, often of well-known works of literature and poetry by authors such as Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, Edgar Allen Poe, John Steinbeck, and many others. The Club also printed incredible illustrations by notable artists of the day, such as Arthur Rackham and Aubrey Beardsley, to accompany the text, creating special editions of some of the most enduring writings. This volume is a gorgeous bibliography of publications by the Limited Editions Club, itself a lovely fine press book, with a brief description of all the books published by the Club up to 1985. An invaluable resource for the collector of Limited Editions Club publications, and an interesting read for the fine press book-lover.
