Dame Jean Iris Murdoch (1919-1999) was a prolific author whose novels often explored good and evil, sexual relationships, morality, and the power of the unconscious.
This work, "The Message to the Planet", explores several of those themes, including the relationship of a master to his disciple, the "dilemma of the religious leader with power and his relationship to suffering", and "the egoism and selfishness inherent in erotic love" (n.b., info and quotes from Wiki).
