A superb biblio-mystery, which "starts with the theft of a nine-leaf fragment of the Gutenberg Bible, stolen along with other rare books from the safe of the Sheldon Memorial Library. There are three victims burned alive...and all possible suspects have airtight alibis, thus presenting a series of impossible crimes" (n.b., quote found on the web site of Mystery File, reprinted from "The Poisoned Pen", Vol. 2, No. 6, Nov-Dec 1979).

Although lacking the dust jacket, this volume in better condition than most currently available on the online marketplace.

___DESCRIPTION: Bound in full black cloth over boards, debossed green lettering and publisher's device stamped onto the front and spine, patterned "Mystery League" green-and-white endpapers, publisher's device on title page; octavo size (7 9/16" by 5 1/8"), pagination: [1-8] 9-286 [1, publisher's ad].

___CONDITION: Near fine, with clean boards, straight corners with minimal rubbing, a strong, square text block with solid hinges, the interior is clean and bright, and entirely free of prior owner markings; text block very slightly cocked and one small spot of soil on the rear free endpaper, else fine.
