The first nineteen volumes of these anthologies which appealed to devotees of both the fantasy and horror genres; it would eventually cover twenty-one volumes, ending with the 21st collection.

The luscious dust jacket art for each one of the twenty editions by Thomas Canty (b. 1952), who pioneered a style for his book cover art drawing from the art of Gustav Klimt and the Pre-Raphaelites. The winner of two World Fantasy Awards for Best Artist (among other honours) with his work being exhibited in galleries and museums around the country.

The two editors (for the first 16 editions), Terri Windling and Ellen Datlow, are both award-winning authors in their own right. This set made special by the first five books being signed or inscribed ("To Larry") in each one by Ellen Datlow; in addition, the first and fifth books either signed or inscribed by Terri Windling.

___DESCRIPTION: All nineteen volumes hardbound, with dust jackets; octavo size (approx. 9.5" by 6.26"), approximately 530 pp. per volume. The dust jackets uniformly not price-clipped.

___CONDITION: Volumes uniformly fine, with clean boards, straight corners without rubbing, strong, square text blocks with solid hinges, the interiors are clean and bright, and other than the editors signatures/inscriptions described above entirely free of prior owner markings. The dust jackets also uniformly fine overall, not price-clipped, the first volume with a hint of sunning to the spine. Overall the entire set is almost as new.
