Green-Pipes

New York: Macmillan, 1929. Paget-Fredericks, J[oseph Rous]. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Quarto size, 42 pp., with publisher's dust jacket, inscribed by Paget-Fredericks. Near Fine / good +. Item #22010702

The illustrations of J. Paget-Fredericks (1903-1963) are at the same time both whimsical and sophisticated - one of the reviewers of his work stated "He seems to have an odd kinship with both Peter Pan and Aubrey Beardsley. One moment he appears to draw inspiration naively from a bit of sea weed floating fan-like from an old piling and the next he displays a cunning and sophisticated wisdom...". A hauntingly lovely book, by an illustrator who graced the world with his talent.

This volume inscribed on the half-title by Paget-Fredericks thus: "These Very Refined kats(?) send Elaborate Salutations (and tail-waves) to 'Kroll' from their ancient Miestro J. Paget-Fredericks".
