The Lemoncheese Press is owned and operated by Li Jiang, a Berkeley-based letterpress printer, graphic designer, bookbinder and print maker. The letterpress printing for this broadside was done by Li on a Columbian iron hand-press owned by The Book Club of California.
___DESCRIPTION: A broadside printed on white textured cardstock paper in black, large vingette in blue at the top of a three-masted sailing ship, ornamental border at the bottom in the form of ocean waves; folio size (12 15/16" by 8.5"). Loosely laid in is a small sheet of paper with a reproduction of a black-and-white photograph of a young Herman Melville with a short biography below, reprinted from "Town and County of Nantucket, MA".
___CONDITION: The broadside fine overall, clean and without noticeable wear; some extremely shallow creasing to the top edge, else fine. The sheet of paper with the picture and biographical information about Melville also fine, clean and without wear.
