Nora Hopper Chesson (1871-1906) participated in the Irish literary movement of the 1890s, and her work, "Ballads in Prose" (1894) would prove to be an influence on that most Irish of poets, W.B. Yeats.

This small volume of her poems, undated but likely ca. 1895-1900, was published by the famous publishing house of Raphael Tuck and Sons. Established in 1866, the name "Raphael Tuck" became synonymous with children's books, greeting cards and postcards.
