Richard Lee Petty (b. 1937), nick-named "The King", was the first driver to win the NASCAR Cup Series seven times; he "is the most accomplished driver in the history of the sport, and is one of the most respected figures in motorsports as a whole" (n.b., per Wiki).

___DESCRIPTION: Bound in full turquoise textured paper over boards, silver lettering on the front board and spine, an "STP" sticker on the front pastedown (the company which sponsored Petty beginning in 1972), the signatures of Richard Petty and Kyle Petty on the front free endpaper (written at a 90-degree angle, from the bottom edge to the top edge), the volume replete with reproductions of photographs, a few in colour but most of them in black-and-white; it is more of a photographic homage to Petty than a biography; quarto size (10 1/8" by 7 1/4"), 200 pp. The dust jacket shows the original price of $9.95, with a picture on the front of Richard Petty superimposed upon a race track, another picture on the back of Petty sitting at the wheel, summary of the book on both flaps.

The unclipped dust jacket also near fine, the colours bright (including the single word on the spine in red, "Petty", which is bright and not sunned), clean other than a few light spots near the tail of the spine, with extremely light spots of edgewear.
