Stephen Edwin King (b. 1947) is likely the most popular author of horror and sci-fi in modern times, having authored over sixty novels (many of which have been adapted to the screen), and being the recipient of numerous awards including World Fantasy, British Fantasy, and Bram Stoker, in addition to many more. With illustrations by Phil Hale (b. 1963), a noted artist who works primarily in figurative art.
The "Dark Tower" series is comprised of eight books (currently), a fascinating blend of horror, dark fantasy, and westerns. King drew his inspiration from Robert Browning's poem "Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came" as well as drawing from J.R.R. Tolkien and the Arthurian Legends. This, "The Drawing of the Three", is the second book in the series and continues the tale begun with "The Gunslinger". This volume is the first trade edition, there was also a deluxe edition issued at the same time.
