San Francisco: Juniper Von Phitzer Press, 1991. Juniper Von Phitzer. Limited Edition. Hardcover. No. 30 of 101 copies, oblong miniature book, 72 pp., signed by both the book artist and the author. Fine. Item #19121101
A lovely book which presents "26 Compliments" according to the letters of the alphabet, from "A wren just told me--" to "Zest for everything is your delightful modus vivendi". As of this writing, no other copies of this title are being offered online and we see none having been auctioned.
The Juniper Von Phitzer Press was the joint venture of Juniper Von Phitzer (Lloyd L. Neilson), who designed, printed, and bound the books; and Marvin R. Hiemstra, poet and author. They were "ably supported by various feline accomplices". Established in 1976, the Press produced its first miniature book in 1985 and, from what we can tell, continued to produce lovely miniature books through at least 1998 (n.b., above quote and information from an invitation to an exhibit of the Press held at the Book Arts & Special Collections Center of the San Francisco Public Library in 1999).
