This volume presents a cultural and historical view of life on the Stockholm archipelago, the largest archipelago in Sweden, written by artist and book illustrator Roland Svensson (1910-2003); Svensson fills the book with numerous colour illustrations as well as black-and-white lithographs of the scenery of the archipelago to accompany the text.

The custom binding is a beautiful half red leather by Abnordiska Bokhandeln in Stockholm, with the binder's ticket on the verso of the front free endpaper.

___DESCRIPTION: Custom binding of half red leather with grey paper boards speckled in red, blue, and gold, the spine with four raised bands, decorative gilt rules, and gilt lettering, top edge gilt, light blue endpapers, original set of yellow endpapers with all-over pattern of white lettering, title page in orange and black with colour illustration, second title page with black-and-white illustration, illustrations in full colour and black and white by Roland Svensson throughout; quarto size (10" by 7"), pagination: [1-12] 13-253 [254-257]. Tasteful nautical prior owner bookplate on the half-title page belonging to "Wm. H. Littlewood". Please note that all text is in Swedish.

___CONDITION: A fine copy; the covers clean, the corners straight, the binding tight with solid hinges, the interior clean and bright, and entirely free of prior owner markings; the barest hint of rubbing to the head and tail of the spine and corners, else fine.
