San Francisco: Reynard Press, ca. 1930. Hardcover. No. 127 of an unknown edition, quarto size, 316 pp. Near fine. Item #19050405
Reynard Press was established in San Francisco in 1910, located at 133 First Street, and was headed by Alfred Fox, Proprietor, about whom we find scant information online. The Press was still mentioned in trade catalogues such as the "Inland Printer" as late as 1931, but we find no record online of the date of its closure or acquisition by another company.
This volume contains copious samples of typefaces, with lines printed in a range of sizes; toward the back of the book there are also several pages, in colour, of sample printings of ornaments, borders, and initial capitals for a variety of purposes.
This volume is not dated, although in the Foreword it mentions that the first edition was published in 1918, and this volume is the "fourth edition of 'Types'".
