Joseph Conrad (1857-1924) was a Polish-British writer who wrote stories and novels that depict trials of the human spirit in the midst of an impassive, inscrutible universe; he often brought a non-English sensibility into English literature. "The Secret Agent" is a departure from Conrad's seafaring novels and deals with more political themes such as espionage and anarchism; this volume part of a series of Conrad's works from the publisher, the "Concord Edition".
