Willimantic, Connecticut: Ziesing Brothers, 1982. Fabian, Stephen. First and Limited Edition. Hardcover. No. 27 of 100 special copies, octavo size, 123 pp., signed by both Gene Wolfe and Stephen Fabian. Fine / near fine. Item #19031716

Fantasy and science fiction writer Gene Wolfe (b. 1931) has written a plethora of novels and short stories, and he is best known for "The Book of the New Sun" series; his works have garnered many awards, including the Nebula Award and the World Fantasy Award.

"The Castle of the Otter" is Wolfe's collection of essays about "Book of the New Sun" tetralogy; the title comes from a mistaken announcement in the science fiction magazine "Locus" for the series' last volume, "The Citadel of the Autarch", in which an incorrect, though similar-sounding, title was printed.

The dust jacket is illustrated by American artist Stephen Fabian, a prolific illustrator of science fiction and fantasy works, and he received the World Fantasy Award for Life Achievement in 2006; this volume is signed by both Gene Wolfe and Stephen Fabian, with the illustrator's signature on the copyright page.
