Clark Ashton Smith (1893-1961) was a prolific writer, best known for his contributions to the fantasy and horror story magazine "Weird Tales", alongside such writers as H. P. Lovecraft and Robert E. Howard, and his contributions to the Cthulhu Mythos. This collection of Smith's fantasy, science fiction, and horror short stories was his third book to be published by Arkham House, and has a dust jacket illustrated by Frank Wakefield, matching the macabre and mysterious tone of Smith's stories.

In a yellow paper dust jacket with brown lettering and illustration by Frank Wakefield on the front panle, brown lettering on the spine, a list of books from the publisher on the rear panel, a description of the book on the front flap, and author bio on the rear flap; the dust jacket is unclipped with the original price of $3.00 on the front flap.
___CONDITION: Volume is near fine, with clean boards, straight corners, a strong, square text block with solid hinges, the interior is clean and bright, and entirely free of prior owner markings; a couple stray marks to the front board, very light rubbing to the head and tail of the spine and to the corners, else fine. The dust jacket is near fine also, unclipped, clean overall with very faint soiling to the rear panel and to the interior, light edge wear to the head and tail of the spine and to the corners, with a very small chip to the top front corner.
