Venice: S. Rosen Publishers, 1906. Hardcover. Miniature book, 104 pp. Near fine. Item #19012335
Nearly everyone is familiar with the hauntingly beautiful love poetry of Elizabeth Barrett Browning (1806-1861), and some of us with the story of her romance with her husband, Robert Browning (1812-1889).
This 1906 publication of "Sonnets from the Portuguese" not only presents her poetry in a lovely, miniature version (with two illustrations), but includes a note by "R.B.B." (presumably their son, Robert Wiedeman Barrett Browning), wherein is related "an account of the way in which the 'Sonnets from the Portuguese' became first known to him to whom they had been addressed..."
A lovely publication which, even though less than three inches tall, is still easily read and enjoyed.
