The state of California is famous for its myriad and successful wineries, and one such success story is that of E & J Gallo Wineries, founded in 1933 by brothers Ernest and Julio Gallo (1909-2007 and 1910-1993, respectively); the winery is the largest exporter of California wines in the United States. "Our Story" is an autobiography written jointly by Ernest and Julio Gallo, and tells of their childhood in California and the development of their wine business; the chapters are filled with alternating sections narrated by each brother.

___DESCRIPTION: Quarter purple cloth with purple paper boards, gilt emblem of Gallo Winery and signatures of Ernest and Julio Gallo printed in gilt on the front board, gilt lettering and ornament on the spine, fore-edge rough cut, endpapers with images of Gallo wine labels printed in purple and black, title page with black ruled border and ornaments in the shape of grape clusters; octavo size (9.5" by 6.5"), pagination: [i-viii] ix-x [1-2] 3-358, signed by Ernest Gallo with the date "12/22/99" on the half-title page. In a pictorial paper dust jacket with a photograph of Ernest and Julio Gallo and gold and white lettering on the front panel, gold and white lettering on the spine, excerpts from the book with a black-and-white photograph of the brothers as children on the rear panel, a description of the book and author bios on the front and rear flap; dust jacket is unclipped with original price in U.S. ($25.00) and Canadian ($35.00) dollars on the front flap.

___CONDITION: Volume is near fine, with clean boards, straight corners without rubbing, a strong, square text block with solid hinges, the interior is clean and bright, and entirely free of prior owner markings; some rubbing to the bottom edges of the boards, and very slight soiling to the top edge, else fine. The dust jacket is near fine, unclipped, with bright colours, clean except for a few spots of soiling, and some minor edge wear to the head and tail of the spine.
