Henry James (1843-1916) was an American author who wrote in the genre of both literary realism and modernism and is best known for his novels "Portrait of a Lady" and "The Ambassadors"; his works examine the often inscrutable relationships between characters. "Daisy Miller" is a novella that deals with both the interior motives of the characters' psyches and the outward traditions and prejudices encountered in society.

This publication by The Limited Editions Club contains illustrations by French artist Gustave Nebel (1904-1988), whose watercolours are elegantly reproduced throughout the volume.
