An edition of this Christmas poem by Canadian poet Louis Frechette (1839-1908) the poet-laureate of Quebec, first published as a poetical preface to the author's Noel au Canada, in 1900. With small "Holiday Greetings" card signed by Leon Gelber and Theodore Lilienthal; also with a ms translation of the poem (appears to be in the hand of Theodore Lilienthal), which is printed in the original French text in the book. Printed for Leon Gelber and Theodore Lilienthal for Christmas 1936 by the Grabhorn Press. Lilienthal, his wife Frances, and Edith Van Antwerp operated The Quercus Press from 1937 to 1940.

___DESCRIPTION: Original brown paper wrappers, title stamped in dark-brown to upper wrapper, coloured frontispiece of Virgin and Child by Judson Starr, title page in black and blue, four-line hand-drawn blue initial capital letter opens the poem; Lutetia type, machine made paper, quarto size (11" by 7.5"), [16] unnumbered pp. (including blanks), limited edition, one of 200 copies, this copy out of series.

___CONDITION: A fine copy, internally bright and free of prior owner markings, covers are clean, no chipping or rubbing to wrappers, no foxing or age-toning; like new.
