New York: The Limited Editions Club [printed at the Thistle Press], 1968. Miller, Edgar. Limited Edition. Hardcover. No. 351 of 1500 copies, quarto size, 65 pp., signed by Edgar Miller, with LEC Monthly Letter. Near fine. Item #171031048
The Book of Ecclesiastes, part of both the Christian Old Testament and the Hebrew Bible, offers wisdom and advice on how to live and the meaning of life itself, told in the voice of a person identified as Koheleth ("Preacher"); thus the title of the book comes from the translation into the Greek "Ecclesiastes". This publication by the Limited Editions Club comprises the text of the Book of Ecclesiastes, printed in both Hebrew and English; an introduction to the text is provided by the poet Kenneth Rexroth (1905-1982), a prominent figure in the San Francisco Renaissance and influence on the Beat writers who would follow.
Included also are illustrations by American painter and stained-glass artist Edgar Miller (1899-1993), whose poignant and compelling paintings capture the beauty found within the text.
