San Francisco, California: The Senior Class of the University of California Training School for Nurses, 1930. Hardcover. Quarto size, 106 pp. Near Fine. Item #16031675
Seemingly scarce in the marketplace, this 1930 yearbook for the Cal Training School for Nurses marks the tenth such published; this volume refers to "a small paper-bound booklet" published ten years ago, but we find no online records of any White Mortar Boards available for any year. A delightful glimpse into how the Nursing students viewed themselves and their chosen profession eighty-five years ago, with sections showing the obligatory photographs, followed by a listing of Alumnae (beginning in 1909 with one student); the Associated Students (Student Body Association); a Literary section including "The Aims of Nursing Education" as well as various spoofs in a literary vein ("The Red Murder Case" and "The Diary of Nurse Pepys" to name only two); a Feature section including reports of a hospital fire - "X-Ray Blast Starts Fire in U.C. Hospital"; and more.
