David Herbert Lawrence (1885-1930) was an English novelist and poet, best known for his books "Women in Love", "Sons and Lovers", and "Lady Chatterly's Lover", which deal with life in an increasingly industrial setting; a forceful writer, Lawrence used his fiction writings to convey his personal philosophy and moral understanding, with regards to sexuality, emotion, and human connection.

"The Plumed Serpent" is a novel set in Mexico during the Mexican Revolution, told through the eyes of a group of visiting British tourists. This volume is the first edition, printed in 1926.

___DESCRIPTION: Full brown cloth, blind-embossed ruled borders on the front and back board, gilt lettering and ruled borders on the spine; duodecimo size (7.75" by 5.25"), pagination: [1-4] 5 [6] 7-476 [477-480]. Vintage bookseller's ticket "The Holliday Bookshop" in New York on the rear paste-down endpaper. In a cream paper dust jacket with red lettering and ruled borders on the front panel and spine, and a list of other works by the author on the rear panel.

___CONDITION: Volume is near fine, with clean boards, straight corners with minimal rubbing, a strong, square text block with solid hinges, the interior is clean and bright, and entirely free of prior owner markings; very slight rubbing to the head and tail of the spine and to the bottom corners, slight spot of water damage to the fore-edges of last four pages, else fine. The dust jacket is fair, complete, with water damage to the front and rear panels, overall edge wear, sunning to the spine, a chunk is missing from the centre of the spine, and the two flaps are detached but present.
